Special efforts are being made to reach
at-risk children and youth. In collaboration with the Whiz Kids program of
Denver Public Schools and The Third
Story we are offering activities for children on Monday, Wednesday and
Thursday afternoons. Included in the program is a meal and classes developing
basic skills in interpersonal relationships. In an attempt to help children who
are facing grave problems in their families, such as abuse and drug and alcohol
addiction of family members, this is a very important neighborhood program. On
Thursday evenings the church offers a family Tae Kwan-Do program in which
students learn discipline, respect, self-control and self-defense.
KFC or Kids For Christ at First Avenue gather in the worship
service for the first hymn and then a Children's Moment. Following the moment,
they head to Kid's Kingdom where they learn about God's Word.
Kids' Night Out is a themed monthly event happening on the last
Friday of the month. Crafts, games, stories, songs and snacks are provided
during 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. It is a fun and safe time for kids while providing
parents with a couple of hours for themselves.
